Obituary

Alberta Londell Burnett – or Bert as she was known to those who loved her – passed away on March 16, 2022 in Royse City, TX. She was born on October 9, 1939 in Concordia, Kansas.

While waiting tables in nearby Wichita, she was swept off her feet by the love of her life, James Burnett.

Soon they were married and they set off for a life of adventure. From the stunning mountains and canyons of El Paso, TX where they had their first child – Jim – to the tropical paradise of Kwajalein Island where Bert became a championship bowler. Eventually they found themselves under the Aurora Borealis In the snow-covered forests of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and later in the steamy south in Greenville, NC.

In Sedalia, Missouri Bert and James were surprised with a second child – Ann – just as Jim was joining the Army and starting his own adventures. Life settled down some as they wound their way through Lee's Summit and Nixa, MO and finally settled in Royse City to be near their grandkids.

Alberta enjoyed baking pies and cakes, loved any and all dogs, and liked the occasional game of bones, but mostly she loved spending time and sharing stories with the people she loved most and making sure her home was a place of happiness and love for all.

Bert is preceded in death by her parents and several half-siblings including Wilbur Snavely. She is survived by her brother James Snavely, her husband James Burnett, her children James "Jim" (Cindy) Burnett Jr and Ann (Kevin) Dooley. Her grandchildren Isabella Burnett, Lilybeth and Devin Dooley and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, March 20, 2022, at Lynch Funeral Service Chapel starting at 12. A visitation will take place one hour prior, with an internment at Royse City Cemetery after the service.
