Barbara Ann
Greiner
Dec 12, 1932 — Jul 15, 2022
Barbara Ann Higginbotham Greiner passed into eternity on July 15, 2022. She walked free of pain through Heaven's gates to be welcomed by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Also waiting for her was her precious husband Don Greiner who preceded her in death in 2016. Barbara was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma, on December 12, 1932, to her loving parents William Hugh Higginbotham, Sr., and Bess Pauline Cook. Her father, a CPA, took a job in Houston with Glenn MaCarthy Oil Co., when she was 6 years-old, so the family moved. She started school there, and in 1950 she graduated from Milby High School. When she was 13 years-old, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior following the caring witness of a friend. She grew in her faith and understood that "by Grace are you saved through faith; it is not of yourself; it is a gift of God, not as a result of works, so that no one can boast" Ephesians 2:8. She loved the church of her youth, Park Memorial Baptist in Houston. It was there she met the love of her life at a church baseball game. Barbara and Don were married August 9, 1952. Their love story lasted for 64 years and was a reflection of Galatians 5:22 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, and faith." Barbara loved her family, and devoted her life to raising their 5 wonderful children and nurturing their faith in Jesus. For many years Barbara taught Sunday School classes from 3 year-olds to young married women. Don had a fruitful ministry with the Christian Business Men's Connection. As Barbara's children got older, she became a licensed real estate agent in Texas, and later in California, as well as helping Don with his business ventures. She was also the one who was a gracious hostess to their many friends and expanding family. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Hugh Higginbotham, Jr.; her loving parents by marriage Rose Mae and Herman Greiner; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Vonne Merle and Frank Colson; and brother-in-law Clifford Deal Crofford. She is survived by her children Ron and Kelly Greiner; Diana and Dave Knutzen; Charlotte and Monte Slaver; Glenn and Lesley Greiner; and Sheri and Cory Beesler . Her grandchildren are Gene and Jessica Greiner, Katie and Clay Bryan, Matt and Marissa Hawbaker, Camille and Kurt Voorhees, Evan Hawbaker, Blake Hawbaker, Christine and Tristan Duong, Jenny and Jason Robbins, Aubrey and Brian Butts, Levi Slaver, Haley Greiner, Allyson Greiner, Caleb Greiner, Bronte and Evan Capowski, Jordan Beesler, and Taylor Beesler. Her great-grandchildren are Garren, Landry, Rhett, and Leighton Greiner; Grace Bryan; Daphne Voorhees; Ilya, Drew, Emily, and Olivia Shulman; Collin Duong; Myca and Beckett Butts; Remington Florez; Luca, and Hazel Capowiski. She is also survived by her sister Jean Crofford. We are all blessed by her life, and will surely miss her hand-written notes of encouragement that marked our special, life's events. Her unconditional love for each of us was unparalleled. But most importantly, she lived a life firmly rooted in God's word, and she set an example of living her life so that God's glory would be evident and a witness to those around her. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Union Chapel Church, 4622 N. Broadway Ave., Munice, IN 47303 where her son serves as associate pastor. Union Chapel has been her "home church" through its online services. Family Directed Memorial Service Friday, July 22, 2022 12:00 PM Christ Community Church 5500 Sayle St. Greenville,Texas 75402
