Benny Hugh Riley, 92, of Wolfe City, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025. Born on July 7, 1933, in Nevada, Texas, Benny was the son of Arthur and Lillie (Buckley) Riley. On February 24, 1953, he married the love of his life, Lois Jean Edwards, and together they shared nearly 62 wonderful years of marriage before Jean's passing in 2015. Benny spent much of his life working in freight and the railroad industry, a career he cherished deeply. The railroad was not just a job to him—it was a lifelong passion. After retirement, Benny found joy and peace in farming and raising cattle. He also loved collecting old tractors, a testament to his appreciation for history and his love of a simple, hardworking life. His loyal dog, Lady, was his constant companion and held a special place in his heart. Benny will be lovingly remembered by his family: Daughters: Linda Sass and Brenda Mercer; Son: Benny Riley and wife, Jane; Grandchildren: Stephen Sass, Brian Riley and wife, Melissa, and Jonathan Mercer; Great-grandchildren: Cody Riley, Clayton Riley, Cory Riley and wife, Baylee, Kalyn Riley, Alice Mercer, and Nicholas Mercer; Great-great-grandchild: David Gerald Riley II.
