Boyce Glynn Porter, 73, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 in Dallas. He was born in Lemesa, Texas on December 5, 1947 to Richard E. and Dorothy Porter. Boyce graduated from Greenville High School in 1966. In 1971, he received a degree in business from East Texas State University. From an early age, Boyce developed a love for woodworking and construction by helping his father build custom cabinetry. He made a career out of what he loved, construction. He and Valarie spent several years building Blockbuster Videos in many of the southern states. He later worked as the Project Manager for Texas A&M-Commerce and then for We Build Inc. After fully retiring, Boyce continued using his talents by creating gifts for those he loved. Wooden tractors, cars, jewelry boxes, and furniture containing his signature will be cherished for many years to come. When he wasn't in the shop working on his next project, he enjoyed vacationing with the love of his life, Valarie. The vacation destination always included a body of water, whether fresh or salt water. He felt most at home on the water with a fishing pole in his hand. He is survived by his wife, Valarie; children: Corrie Roberts and husband Heath, Ryan Porter and wife Stacy, Luke Porter, and Trent Mock and wife Amelia; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way; siblings: Richard "Bo" Porter and Francine Swayze; brothers and sisters-in-law: Johnny Frank and Carolyn Stephenson, Jaime and Vanessa Gamez, Johnny and Vicki Richardson, Bill and Verlyne Richardson, and Philip and Vonda Farmer; numerous nieces and nephews, along with a host of loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents. Serving as honorary pallbearers are his brothers-in-law. A memorial service for Mr. Porter will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Vansickle Baptist Church with visitation one-hour prior to the service. The family requests that all in attendance wear a mask.
