Bruce Edward Swanson, 81, of Greenville, TX, passed away on 20 January 2021. Bruce was born on 28 July 1939 to Edward Swanson & Verna Joyce (Wimer-née) in Holdrege, NE. Raised a few miles away, he grew up on a small farm in Bertrand, NE, and graduated from Bertrand High School in 1956. Soon after, he met and courted Annabelle Lee Marshall of Holdrege. They were wed in 1961 on Valentine's Day in Phillipsburg, KS, and later raised 3 children, Curt, Dawn and Erin. Bruce went on to study Chemistry & Biology, earning a BS from Utah State in Logan, UT. After graduation he was commissioned into the US Army medical corps in the field of Anesthesiology. Completing 20 years of Honorable service, he retired from the US Army in 1985, earning the rank of Major. Post-service Bruce continued his career in anesthesia at the Hunt Regional Medical Center, in Greenville, TX. When Bruce wasn't at the hospital, he could be found at the family farm raising cattle or bailing hay for farmers all over Hunt county. Not a man to waste time, Bruce was a force of nature and a shining example of the ideal American work ethic who was determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved; they meant more to him than anything else in the world. He was a quiet, humble man, trusting and generous, and unendingly proud of his family, always doing his best to support them. Bruce was passionate about photography & business, earning a Graduate degree in both. He also enjoyed traveling, collecting hundreds of beer cans / bottles for display, but most of all, he loved to farm and the farming lifestyle. Anyone who knew Bruce, quickly learned that he was a rare and great friend, and the most loving father and husband a family could ever dream of. Bruce was predeceased by his parents as well as his wife, Annabelle. He is survived by his Brother Larry & wife Ginny Swanson, son Curt & wife Melissa, daughters Dawn Cantrell, Erin Swanson, & grand-daughter Vanja Lee Swanson-Svanhall.
