Dorothy (Dot) Ann Gum Robertson, formerly of Staunton, VA passed away peacefully on Sunday July 18th at her home in Greenville Texas. Dot was 89 years old. Funeral Services will be held at First Church Royse City on Saturday July 24th at 2:30 PM (816 W Church St. Royse City, TX 75189). Interment will follow service at Lynch Memorial Park in Greenville. Rev. Jason Hammack will officiate the service, assisted by Rev. Lucas McManus. Visitation will be held Friday July 23rd from 6-8 PM at Lynch Funeral Home in Greenville, TX. Honoring Dot as pallbearers will be her grandsons: Joseph Robertson, Kevin Robertson and Corey Sommers. Also serving are Davonta Cooper, Charles Gray, and Michael Hammack. Dot was born February 14, 1932 in Staunton, VA, the daughter of Branche Sewell Gum and Virginia Frances Gum. Dot's loving family are son, Mark Andrew Robertson and daughter-in-law Nancy Long Robertson of Greenville; 5 grandchildren Courtney Robertson Sommers and spouse Corey Gene Sommers, Kyle Andrew Robertson and spouse Anna Roth Robertson, Joseph Aaron Robertson and spouse Starla Harrell Robertson, Julie Ann Robertson and Kevin Jack Robertson; 3 great granddaughters Harper Louise Sommers, Amelia Grace Robertson, and Ava Faye Robertson and 1 great grandson Lucas Stone Robertson; 2 nieces Gayle Desper Hiner, Cynthia Gum Wood; nephew Todd Desper; sister-in-law Betty H. Gum, and a number of cousins. Dorothy (Dot) was preceeded in death by husband Billy Allen Robertson, son Jonathan Allen Robertson, both of her parents, and brother Charles W. Gum. Dot and Billy were both retired from the Daily News Leader newspaper in Staunton, VA and moved to Texas in 1998 to be with their immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family will appreciate memorials be made to First Church of Royse City c/o Rev. Jason Hammack, 816 W Church St. Royse City, TX 75189.
