Gabriel Dean O'Con, lovingly known to his grandchildren and family as "PePaw," passed away peacefully on January 14, 2021 surrounded by his family at his home in Caddo Mills, Texas. He was born September 10, 1943 to Gabriel and Jural (Weatherford) O'Con in Crandall, Texas. He was 77 years old. Gabriel proudly served his country in the US Army. He worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers and retired after more than 34 years. He served his community for many years as scout master. Gabriel walked with the Lord and knew Him intimately. Over the years he served actively as a deacon and faithful member of Vansickle Baptist Church in Greenville, Texas. In his spare time, he could be found outdoors working his horses, going fishing, camping, or boating. Mostly he was a loving family man. He enjoyed and cherished every minute he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and family. He leaves lasting and wonderful memories for his family and friends. Gabriel is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Darla Boyd; children, Shelley Cummings and her husband Jason, Michael D. O'Con and his wife Melissa Williams, John Boyd and his wife Bridget, Paul Boyd and his wife Misty; grandchildren, Rodney Malone, Alexis Bentley and her husband Jackson, Koby Watson, Meagan Watson, Sara Watson, Cole Perkins, Adam Perkins, Lindsey Perkins, Tanner Boyd, John Boyd; great grandson, Coyote Bentley; siblings, A.J. Peek, Becky Nickels, Ruby Ann Browning, along with a host of loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife who he spent 39 wonderful years, Sandra O'Con. There will be a visitation from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the Lynch Funeral in Greenville, Texas. A funeral service will begin at 10:00am on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Vansickle Baptist Church in Greenville, Texas. Bro. Roger Ratliff will be officiating. Interment will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Caddo Mills, Texas.
