Jax Tucker Smith of Greenville, Texas, passed away on May 23, 2026, at the young age of 20. Born on October 25, 2005, in Dallas, Texas, to Rod Smith and Erika Thornton, Jax brought light, laughter, and love into the lives of everyone who knew him. He was the kind of person whose presence could instantly brighten a room. With his outgoing personality, infectious smile, and constant sense of humor, Jax never met a stranger. He loved making people laugh and was always joking, cutting up, and finding ways to bring joy to others. Jax had a deep love for sports, especially basketball, and enjoyed every moment spent on the court or surrounded by friends and family. More than anything, he had a heart bigger than most. He would help anyone without hesitation and would gladly give his last dollar to someone in need. His kindness, loyalty, and compassion made him not only a wonderful son and family member, but also an unforgettable friend to so many. Those who knew Jax will remember his free spirit, his generous heart, and the way he made people feel loved and accepted. Though his time here was far too short, the memories he created and the love he shared will live on forever in the hearts of all who loved him. Jax is survived by his loving mother, Erika Thornton and stepfather Alan; his father, Rod Smith; grandparents, Mike and Brenda Miles; uncle, Johnny Rhodes; aunt, Lacey Wilkins; along with countless extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Rose Watson; great-grandfather, John Watson; grandfather, Darnell Rhodes; grandmother, Rusti Smith; great-uncles, John Glover and David Watson; and cousin, Jennifer Powless. Though our hearts are broken by this loss, we take comfort in knowing that Jax's laughter, love, and spirit will never be forgotten. He leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories that will continue to live on through all those who were blessed to know him.
