Jeneva "Jean" Estelle
Greer
Jun 5, 1935 — Mar 10, 2022
Jeneva Estelle "Jean" Greer, 86, went to rest in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 10, 2022. Surrounded by family, she passed away peacefully at her home after a brief but courageous battle with Covid-19 and double pneumonia. Born in Kenefic, Oklahoma on June 5, 1935 to Fred Booker and Georgia Kelly Booker, Jean graduated from Kenefic High School in May 1954. After graduation, she and her two best friends from school, Frances and Helen, moved to Greenville, Texas. Some of her early jobs in her new hometown included Brookshires and Haggar Pants Factory. It was in her new hometown of Greenville, TX that she met and married Charles Robert "Buddy" Greer. Once married and settled, she set her sights on becoming a nurse. She attended Nursing School in Greenville and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She worked at the hospital and at several different medical offices, most notably the Office of Dr. Mike Adkisson before it became the Pediatric Clinic. Jean and Buddy had one child, Leah Charlene, born in March of 1966. Jean loved to spend what little free time she had reading. Reading was her passion. She also enjoyed weekend getaways with her lifelong friends Helen Reneau and Frances Lane and the three of them got together just as often as possible. Over the years, Jean developed some lasting friendships with some Greenville-based friends as well. Early in her Nursing Career, she met colleague Marilyn Partin and the two remained close friends for decades. Also, after retiring from nursing, she met Edna Ratliffe while the two worked in the Aldersgate Church Nursery. Jean delighted in caring for the small children and always came home with funny stories of "life in the nursery." Later in life, as her health declined, Edna made it her mission in life to always make sure Jean had something to read and the family is eternally grateful to her. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Alvin Booker of Fort Worth, TX, her brother Hubert Eggenberg of Durant, Ok, her husband, Charles "Buddy" Greer of Greenville, TX, beloved Aunts Annie Booker Glenn and Laura Booker Lumsden, Uncles Howard Booker and Winifred Booker, and her dear, lifelong friend, Frances Lane, all of Caddo, OK. Jean is survived by her daughter, Leah Warren, and partner Shane Phillips, granddaughter, Emily Warren of Greenville, TX, dear friends Marilyn Partin and Edna Ratliffe of Greenville, TX and dear, lifelong friend Helen Reneau of Denton, TX. The family wishes to thank Kindred Hospice for their exemplary care during Jean's final weeks. Another special thanks goes out to Shannon Smith, whose steadfast willingness to help has always been a great comfort.
