John Dewey Elmore, 85, of Greenville, Texas, was born on March 27, 1940, and passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025. John lived a long, full life marked by love, family, and hard work. John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest joy was spending time with those he loved. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and "piddling" in his shop, where he was always tinkering, fixing, or building something. His quiet strength, steady presence, and warm sense of humor made him a cherished part of every gathering. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Darlene Elmore; his children, Debbie Hines Elmore, Dewey Glen Elmore (wife Laurie), Sherry Elmore, Terry Elmore Phillips (spouse Chad Brand), and Gary Dewayne Elmore (wife Kim); 8 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. John's family was his pride and his legacy, and he cherished each of them deeply. John was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Dewey Elmore and Ethel Annie Mae Elmore; his brothers, Jack Elmore, and Jesse Elmore; his sisters, Lorene Eagleburger and Frankie Price; his son John Charles Elmore; and several nephews and a niece. John will be remembered for his kindness, his love of the outdoors, and the way he made everyone feel welcome. His family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with those who went before him and that his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. There will be a visitation on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Lynch Funeral Service Chapel in Greenville, Texas. Following the visitation there will be a funeral service on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM also at Lynch Funeral Service Chapel in Greenville. Interment to follow at Memoryland Cemetery in Greenville, Texas.
