On Feb. 22, 2021, our beloved, Kathryn (Kathy) Eugenia Kirkpatrick passed away. She was born Nov. 20, 1949 in Greenville, Texas to Robert and Doris Grimes. She married Tom Kirkpatrick on Jan. 26, 1991. As the daughter of humble farmers, Kathy hoed and picked cotton and shared in farm chores. Growing up on the farm, she developed her strong work ethic and her can-do attitude. This attitude and her faith in God carried her through a debilitating brain infection in college. She had to relearn how to walk, talk, and write. She went on to become to first college graduate in her family. After graduating with her Masters of Education from East Texas State University, Kathy became the first and founding Caddo Mills Kindergarten teacher. She touched the lives of close to 1,000 children during her 43 years of teaching. Before Kathy retired, she had the privilege of teaching two generations of Caddo Mills families. She was a treasure to the entire community. Some of Kathy's joys in life were working in the garden with Tom, making new friends and visiting with old ones. She was the best bargain hunter at garage sales. She not only shopped for herself, but she loved finding the perfect gift for family and friends. You couldn't outgive Kathy. She always had more to offer. Kathy was devoted to her Lord, family and especially her 10 precious grandchildren. She found great pleasure in caring for and serving her family. For Kathy, there was nothing better than a house full of grandkids. Kathy is survived by her four children: Lisa Sinclair and her husband, Jonathan, Scott Hunt and his wife, Truly, Tammy Kirkpatrick, Tim Kirkpatrick and his wife, Elizabeth. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren who were adored by her: Mattie Rumph and her husband, Cody, Katie and Ellie Kirkpatrick, Hayley, Zoe, and Stella Hunt, Hannah, William, Luke, and Sadie Sinclair; and brother Thomas Grimes and his wife Linda. When Kathy entered those pearly gates, she was reunited with the love her of life, Tom Kirkpatrick and her parents, Robert and Doris Grimes. There will be a visitation on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Lynch Funeral Home in Caddo Mills. Funeral Service will be on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Caddo Mills. Interment will follow service at IOOF Cemetery in Caddo Mills.
