Burton
Feb 6, 1952 — Apr 18, 2026
It's often said that someone could light up a room by simply walking into it, but with Mom, that wasn't just an expression—it was just who she was. She was a deeply loving and nurturing wife and mother who led her life with love and kindness, always putting others before herself. While many people find happiness only when things go right, our mother carried joy with her regardless of the circumstances. She had a gentle, quiet strength—a steady resilience that showed through her constant smile. Even in life's hardest moments, she was the one offering a kind word or a laugh that reassured everyone around her and reminded us that everything would be alright. That kindness extended far beyond people. Mom had a soul that resonated with animals. She believed every creature deserved a voice and a home. She saw a purity in animals that matched her own spirit—loyal, simple, and full of unconditional love. Our mother's life wasn't defined by the challenges she faced, but by the grace with which she handled them. Mom, we hope you're surrounded by every pet you ever loved, finally resting with that same beautiful smile on your face. She is survived by her loving spouse of 43 years, Johnny Burton; her children, Larry (Lisa) Johnston, Lisa (Jimmy) Rush, Shannon (Steve) Hopson, and Jeremy (Alisha) Burton; her grandchildren, Jacob (Samantha) Johnston, Christopher (Audra) Mason, Aaron Evans, Travis Bailey, Olivia Hopson, Kaelah (Nik) Willwerth, Leona Burton, and Alea Burton; and her great-grandchildren, Elodie, Stella, Caroline, Kyle, Hazlie, Lila, Lane, Nolan, and Isabella. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry (Linda) Cooper; her sister, Charlene Kiker; and her nephews, Kevin Cooper and his child, Caden Allen; Jeff (Penny) Kiker and their child, Piper Kiker; Cass (Jodi) Cooper and their child, Bodi Cooper; Chase (Jeffa) Cooper; and Kris (Max) Jacobson. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Winfred Cooper and Bonita Shipp Cooper; her brother, Mike Cooper; her brother-in-law, Paul Kiker; and her niece, Astra Cooper.
