Leldon Maurice McMillon, known by his family and friends as "Corky", of Caddo Mills, TX, passed away at his home peacefully, surrounded by his family, on August 30, 2022, just one day before his 88th birthday. He was the son of Elmer and Belma McMillon, born in a small house off Highway 34 in Cash, TX, on August 31, 1934. He is survived by his two sons, Bradley McMillon and his wife Amy McMillon of Sherman, TX, and Christopher McMillon and his wife Marie Darragh of Caddo Mills, TX. He has four grandchildren, Ashley, Bryce, Ryan, and Ellie. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Belma McMillon, his infant son Stephen, and his wife of 60 years, Justine McMillon. Justine and Corky were married in 1960 until her passing in 2020. Corky graduated from Greenville High School in 1952 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering Degree from the University of Texas in 1957. He was a proud Longhorn fan. He loved a good Aggie joke and was always quick to tell you one. He was a registered Professional Engineer of the State of Texas and a Member of the Pipeliners Club of Houston. In 1958 he was active duty in the United States Army for three months under the "Critical Skills" program and was a member of the Standby Reserves from 1958 to 1965. He worked as a petroleum engineer from 1957 until 1980, when he decided to switch careers. He received a Master's in Education Degree from East Texas State University and began teaching math. He was a high school math teacher at Caddo Mills High School for 22 years, from 1980 until he retired in 2002, where he was known as "Mr. Mac" by many students and faculty during his time there. On the side, he was also a cattle rancher. He was a member of the Beefmaster's Association and raised registered Beefmaster cattle. Before settling down in Caddo Mills in 1980, Corky and his wife Justine lived in Louisiana, Ohio, and Houston as part of his career as an engineer. He worked for Brown and Root Inc and Pan American Petroleum Corporation. During that time, he made several trips abroad, working in England, Brazil, Peru, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and the Arctic Circle in Alaska and Yukon. He estimated offshore pipeline construction costs and he also worked as field supervisor. Corky took excellent care of his family and his home. He always did whatever he needed to do to help his family and friends. He was an excellent carpenter, and he spent many hours in his tool shed building furniture for Justine, his kids, and his friends. He loved playing Sudoku.
