Obituary

Michael "Mike" De Castro, 44, passed away on July 8, 2026. He was born on November 18, 1981, in Chicago, Illinois. Mike was the kind of person who left an impression wherever he went. Loud, sarcastic, stubborn, and unapologetically himself, he lived life to the fullest and never believed in doing anything halfway. His hard headed nature was matched only by his enormous heart, and those who knew him understood that beneath his witty remarks and playful sarcasm was a man fiercely devoted to the people he loved. Mike found joy in the worlds of imagination and adventure. He loved playing games, especially Minecraft and Dungeons & Dragons. He also cherished his time working at the Renaissance Faire, where he embraced the camaraderie, creativity, and spirit of the community he loved so much. Above all else, Mike treasured his family. He shared nearly seven wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, his wife, Heather De Castro. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He was a proud father to Xiomara DeCastro and Dominick De Castro. He is also survived by his siblings, Michele Esquijarosa, Alex Esquijarosa, Diana Bovi, and Angie Padron and her husband, Armando; his chosen family, Chucky Beasley, whom he affectionately called his "brother from another mother," and his wife Andie Benoit; along with countless nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many beloved friends who became family through the years. Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Xiomara Lugo, and his brother, Eddie Esquijarosa. Mike's laughter, booming voice, quick wit, and unforgettable personality will be deeply missed but forever remembered. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, the stories he created, the joy he shared, and the love he gave will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
