Michael Duwayne
Shepard
May 21, 1952 — Aug 4, 2024
Michael Duwayne Shepard, age 72, of Wills Point, passed away on August 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday on August 13, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Lynch Funeral Service in Greenville, Texas. Michael was born on Wednesday, May 21, 1952, to Martha (Cook) and Wayne Shepard. He was raised in the Lake Tawakoni area and graduated from Quinlan High School in 1970. With the risk of the draft upon him and the support of Rex Lippincott he enlisted into the United States Air Force in1971 and proudly served his country until 1974. The love he had for his country did not stop when he received his discharge papers, and he carried his patriotic ways through the rest of his life. He was proud to call himself an American and felt that everyone should strive for that same pride. After the military, he worked at the post office as a rural mail carrier. He remained a public servant until his retirement in 2009. He met the love of his life, Tina Thompson, in 2002 at Texas Swing Club and 13 years later they married on September 7, 2015. Together they shared years of love and laughter that will never fade. He is described as a family man who loved his family above all else. He was a father to three beautiful daughters and a bonus daughter that he claimed as his own from day one, he also had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that he loved immensely. Michael loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. In his free time, Michael and Tina would visit El Dorado to play the slots and see what they could win at gambling. He loved sports, but his heart belonged to the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Micheal was also an avid Nascar fan. He was a simple man that enjoyed simple things like watching the Price is Right, Jeopardy, Let's Make a Deal, and Wheel of Fortune. He also loved to watch old westerns, but his favorites were Lonesome Dove and Dances with Wolves. Michael was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his wife of 24 years, Tina Shepard of Wills Point; daughters, Julie Prock and husband Brian of Bryan, Tx.; Christy Schuessler and husband Heath of Wolfe City; Morgan Hargrove and husband Justin of Wolfe City, and stepdaughter, Brittany Thompson of Quinlan; mother, Martha Marie Lippincott of Canton; grandchildren, Megan, Halston, Trenton, Brittany, Bradley, Brenton, Payton, Hunter, Chance, and Nevaeh; great grandchildren, James, Jace, Keaton and Kaylee, and Brother, Freddy Shepard and wife Charlotte of Ben Wheeler. He is preceded in death by the man that raised him and made him the man he was Rex Lippincott.
