Murry Ellis Benton, 87, of Greenville, Texas went to meet his Heavenly Father on July 13, 2021. Murry was born on October 31, 1933, to Charles Dale Benton and Anna Ruth Bishop of Cumby, Texas. Murry along with his wife, Helen Louise, were active charter members in their church, Lamar Baptist, later renamed Family Fellowship. He served as a deacon, drove buses for the church, and became an ordained lay pastor in December 1976. Murry also enjoyed southern gospel and country music; he enjoyed picking along to his favorite songs on the guitar. Another passion of his was vintage cars, he loved going to antique car shows. Murry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen Louise Benton, his children: Charlotte Dundas (Terry), Thresa Murphey, and Randy Benton, his grandchildren: Stacey Mitchell (Mark), Shannon Unruh (Clint), Cody Murphey (Sarah), Meaghan Krafka (Adam), Colton Murphey (Kasey), Mariah Murphey (Brad), Shane Benton, Ashley Benton, and 20 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by half-sisters: Kathy Lane, Donna Odom, and a host of loving friends. Murry is preceded in death by his parents: Charles Dale Benton and Anna Ruth Bishop, and his stepparents: Leon Bench and Margaret Benton. The family will have a visitation from 2-4pm on, Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Family Fellowship Church in the chapel.
