Raymond "Ray" Derrick, 77, of Pecan Gap, Texas, passed peacefully on February 13, 2023. Ray was born to Eva Hill and Raymond Leon Derrick on July 16, 1945, in Hartselle, AL. Raised by his mother and Ocie "Bunk" Thompson after the passing of his father at an early age. Ray was also known as "R-Gee" to all of his grandkids. Ray loved to go hunting and fishing, and when he wasn't you could find him watching NASCAR or football on tv, Roll Tide! Ray was a proud veteran who served his country in the Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran. Ray is survived by his sons: Dax and Marcia Derrick, Cody and Monica Derrick, and Brett and Nicole Derrick; grandchildren: Aynslee, Jolee, Tucker, Logan and Kaylee, Keelan, Alana, Connor, Easton, Harper, Fisher, and Jasper; great-grandchildren: Walker, Addy, and Kittrick; sister, Doris Ridgeway; and brother-in-law, Jere Singleton. Ray is preceded in death by his loving wife, Judy; parents, Eva and Raymond; and two siblings, Margaret Johnson, and Jimmie Derrick. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the Lynch Funeral Service Chapel. Cary Kinnaird will be leading the service.
