Santos Cortez There is only one happiness in this life; love and to be loved. Sadly, our beloved son, husband, father, brother, and friend, Santos Cortez passed away on August 21, 2024. Santos was born on January 17, 1979 in Dallas, TX to Gregorio Cortez Sr., and Yolanda Ramon Bermejo. He was 45 years old, and a long-time resident Farmersville. He attended both Dallas and Farmersville schools. Some of the fondest memories of Santos were when he was young, he and his brothers loved to play marbles. Very often his brothers caught him cheating because he loved to win. The happiest days of his life were when his children were born, they brought joy to him every day. One of his favorite sayings was, "If it is not Budweiser, and Marlboro red 100s, then civilization is lost." He is survived by his wife, Asalia Gasca Cortez; sons: Santos Cortez Jr., Steven Gasca Cortez, Leland James Cortez; daughters: Brissia Guadalupe Cortez, Bella Cortez, Elissa Cortez; father, Gregorio Cortez Sr.; siblings and their spouses: Helen Gonzalez, Olivia and Jose Ruiz, Erma and Zenon Perez, Gregorio Jr. and Amy Cortez, Domingo and Raina Cortez, Antonio Cortez, Charles and Julie Cortez, Yolanda and Miquel Garcia, Alicia Villanueva, David Villanueva; 34 nieces and nephews; 43 great-nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Yolanda Ramon Bermejo. Psalms 34:18 "The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." There will be a visitation from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Friday, August 30, 2024 and funeral service at 1:30 pm, Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Lynch Funeral Home Chapel. 2203 Gilmer St., Caddo Mills, TX. 75135. Interment will follow service at IOOF Cemetery in Caddo Mills on FM 6. There will be a special gathering for friends and family following the interment at 5406 Bass Rd., Princeton, TX 75407.
