Obituary

Shelby Louise Starnater, 33, passed away peacefully at home on January 23, 2026, in the loving arms of her mother and sister. Born in Dallas, Texas, on March 3, 1992, to Eddie Starnater and Greta Dunkelberger Hill, Shelby was raised in Greenville, Texas, where she graduated from Greenville High School in 2010. Shelby was the sweetest, most caring soul, blessed with quick wit and a gift for perfectly-timed, hilarious one-liners. She had a profound love for all animals and was a devoted fur mama to her beloved dog, Waylon, and her beautiful cat, Windi. She cherished traveling with her mom to national parks, historical sites, and visits with her adored nephews and niece. As the ultimate doting aunt, Shelby cared deeply about every detail of their lives - what they were learning, what made them laugh, and what dreams they held. Shelby loved the quiet things in life; her home, her friends, her family, her pets - she had an amazing eye for photography, a love of growing plants and of making "crafty" things, and a heart filled with love that was always ready to nurture and to create. A true neighbor and friend, Shelby listened intently to people's stories, prepared meals for those in need, and would give the shirt off her back to anyone who needed help. Her kindness was quiet but boundless. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her parents, Eddie and Julie Starnater, Greta Dunkelberger Hill and Richard Hill; her sister, Stefani Starnater; her brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Heather Starnater; her nephews and niece, Tanner, Nolin, Anakin, and Khloie Starnater; her grandmother, Mary Lou Starnater; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her small but mighty circle of friends: Jacey Selter, Amanda Gazar, Shawna Wells, and Stephanie Small. Shelby was preceded in death by her grandparents, Al and Dottie Dunkelberger, and Jim and Ann Starnater. The family will host a private service with family and friends to celebrate her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with Shelby's tremendous love of animals, we ask that you make a donation to your local animal shelter in her honor.
