Shirley Thurman, 62, of Dallas, Texas passed away on February 17, 2021. She was born in Garland to John Doyle Ellis and Juanita Lafon Ellis. Shirley worked for Person Touch Tree Service for over 25 years where customer service was very important to her. She was very proud of the fact that she had recently paid off her house and enjoyed spending her evenings at home. Shirley had a love for animals and on several occasions had taken in abandoned squirrels that she nurtured back to health and then set free. One of the squirrel's nickname was "Squirrely Shirley". She always put others before her and herself last doing what she could to help family and friends when needed. Shirley is survived by her son, Kevin Michael Thurman; brother, Roy Lafon; and sister, Judy Squires. She was preceded in death by her son, Terry "TJ" Dean Thurman, Jr., parents and brothers: Jerry Lafon and Larry Lafon. There will be a visitation from 5 - 7 pm on Tuesday, February 23rd. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 24th at 11 am in the Lynch Funeral Service Chapel.
