Obituary

William Seth Rutherford was an adventurous, deep thinking, compassionate human who was constantly striving to be the best he could be in his mission to serve others through his strong faith. He was born Christmas Day 1985 in Dallas, TX, just 18 minutes after his twin brother. He is preceded in death by his father, Roger Rutherford and is survived by his mother, Grace Rutherford, sisters Christi Fanning and Rachel Rutherford Wolverton, and his best friend and twin brother Hayes Rutherford and sister-in-law Taylor Rutherford. He was the favorite uncle of Corbin Fanning, Hannah Fanning, Caleb Fanning, Jude Hass, Emma Wolverton, Avery Wolverton, Wyatt Wolverton, Elise Rutherford, and Liam Rutherford who was named after him (Liam is Irish for William), and his great-nephew Rylan Elliott. He was always there with his deep love, strong support, and seemingly endless energy to play with his nieces and nephews. Seth loved children and he shared in their wonder and imagination. As a child, he was known in his family as "Sweet Seth" because he was so innately empathetic and always willing to help or give love. Countless hours were spent playing on the family farm with his siblings in the tree house his father built, pretending to be ninjas, driving the go-kart, riding horses, reading books and cooking. He was also known in his family as "Billy Crocker'' and he was recently creating his own recipes. He loved to learn and had a brilliant mind. He watched a few YouTube videos and was instantly able to pick up and play the piano. He taught himself various languages, learned wood-working and built furniture, and was currently practicing woodburning and painting. His love of learning led him to finishing high school early to begin college at 17 and graduating with his doctorate in pharmacology by 23. After graduating, he opened his own compounding pharmacy and supported his patients in their health and wellness journey combining his brilliance and compassion into an effective tool for helping others find physical healing. He closed his business to pursue other opportunities and bought a home in Greenville, TX where he worked locally as a pharmacist and poured his gifts into educating and empowering both his clients and colleagues. He kept a personal credit card by the cash register to pay for the prescriptions of patients who couldn't afford their needed medications. He found ways to share his faith through helping people he met in his community in any way that he could, even taking people into his home and helping them get back on their feet, as well as mentoring young men and boys who needed a positive male role model. He was the fun uncle and amazing brother to anyone who needed to feel God's love in their lives and he made us feel so loved and worthy. Seth's heart was always being called to serve others and he was sparked by a desire to go into missionary work even before he finished high school during a mission trip to Romania. His call to missionary work grew stronger and he traveled to Africa and Thailand before finding his place with Youth with a Mission in the Philippines. He came home in 2020 due to the pandemic and he was the glue holding his mother together after his dad passed in March 2021. He built his mother a garden around the swing his father had built for her, he kept her company on her walks, and helped with upkeep in the family home. He was always giving his love, his time, his energy and 100% of his effort towards his family and those he loved. He was also supporting the children's ministry and other outreach efforts at his church and planning to return to the Philippines in September to continue his work of service and to propose to the woman he was hoping to make his wife, Princess Barcelon. His achievements, accomplishments, and the astronomical number of lives he touched in his 35 years is more than most could ever hope for in any lifetime and he will always be honored and remembered as "Selfless Seth" for giving of his spiritual gifts, his love of God, love and devotion for his family, and his above and beyond service to others. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, August 12th at 2:00 PM at Open Heavens Church located at 2215 Beltline Road Garland, TX 75044. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Seth's life.
