William Eugene
Yates
Oct 10, 1969 — Oct 15, 2026
William Eugene Yates, affectionately known as "Teapot," passed away on October 15, 2026, in Greenville, Texas. He was born on October 10, 1969, in Dallas, Texas, to Georgie Nell Dotson and Jerry Wayne Yates.
William earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and found his calling in teaching. Throughout his career, he worked with young learners in kindergarten and Pre-K at GISD and Stepping Stones PreK4. His time in the classroom gave him the opportunity to help shape young lives and be a part of the important beginnings of so many children's educational journeys.
William had a larger-than-life personality and was never one to meet a stranger. He was loud, outgoing, friendly, and kind, with a way of making people feel welcome wherever he went. He enjoyed watching football, especially cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns, and spending time fishing. Above all, William was a fierce protector of his family and the people closest to him. He loved his inner circle deeply and stood by those he cared about with unwavering loyalty.
William will be remembered for his big personality, generous spirit, and the love he had for his family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristen Clara Yates; his sister-in-law, Renee Hedger; and his father-in-law, Ernie Lane.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgie Nell Dotson and Jerry Wayne Yates, and his beloved wife, Dana Regina (Lane) Yates.
