Zack Portman of Greenville, Texas passed away at Medical City Plano on May 15, 2023 at the age of 73 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 23, 1950 in Lubbock, Texas to Glenn and Jessie Mae (Polson) Portman. Zack was a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He will be remembered fondly for his deep love for family and friends, his culinary skills, love of classic cars, Doo-Wop music, storytelling and a knack for hosting unforgettable family gatherings. From humble beginnings working at his father's gas station to owning and operating several successful businesses, Zack was a true entrepreneur. Throughout his 50+ year career, Zack opened Zack's Towing Company in Richardson, North Dallas Wheel Covers, I-30 Auto Salvage, and most recently W.P. Auto Sales in Greenville from which he retired in 2013. Zack found solace and strength in his faith in Jesus Christ. His unwavering belief in the power of love, forgiveness, generosity and compassion guided him in his interactions with others and his many stories are treasured memories that will be passed down from one generation to the next. Zack Portman is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Marilynn Portman; children, Steven Portman (Laurie), Wendi Sue Portman (Karen), Kami Kimbell, Stormi Rupe (Matt); grandchildren, Rylee Portman, Lexi Portman, Jade Lujuan-Portman, Makiah Kimbell, Joshua Rupe, Madilynn Rupe, Jonah Rupe, Susanna Rupe; brother Ralph Shipman; brother-in-law Ronnie Williams (Debbie), and the mother of his children, Sandra Meltzer (Steven and Wendi Sue). Zack is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bobby Portman; sisters Jerry Ann Foote and Patsy Vestal. Memorial Service to be held Friday, May 26, 2023 with a family visitation at 10:15 a.m. and Service at 11:00 a.m. at Vansickle Baptist Church, 2181 County Road 2246, Greenville, TX 75402.
